African Green Pigeon

Treron calvus

A parrot-like green pigeon that clambers around fruiting figs, often unnoticed until a whole flock explodes from the tree. Its calls are an odd mixture of whistles, clicks and growls.

Did you know?

Its yellow-green plumage is such good camouflage that a fig tree can hold a dozen birds you cannot see.

We are building a photo record of the forest's wildlife and would love to feature your picture, with credit.
