Applications and payments for Oloolua Nature Trail are handled on the Kenya Institute of Primate Research (KIPRE) eCitizen portal.

How it works

Read and apply
Open the Oloolua Nature Trail service on the KIPRE eCitizen portal, read the instructions, and fill in the application form.
- 2
Pay and keep the receipt
Pay on the portal, then download and print the payment receipt. It is your ticket.
- 3
Visit with your ID
Bring the receipt and your original ID on the day. The gate checks both before you enter the forest.
What you can book
Trail walk
Waterfall, Mau Mau caves, bamboo rest point, papyrus swamp and picnic sites through indigenous forest.
Overnight camping
Camp under the canopy and wake to the forest dawn chorus. Camping dates are booked on the same portal.
Schools and groups
Educational visits for institutions are arranged through KIPRE. Apply on eCitizen or contact us to plan a group visit.
Fees
As listed on the KIPRE eCitizen portal, checked 30 September 2026. The portal is the authoritative price list and is where you pay.
