Papyrus

Cyperus papyrus

The giant sedge of the papyrus swamp, its tall stems topped with feathery green heads. The swamp filters the stream, shelters frogs and reed frogs, and is one of the landmarks on the trail.

Did you know?

The ancient Egyptians made paper, boats and sandals from the same plant.
