Common Reed Frog

Hyperolius viridiflavus

A small, brightly patterned tree frog that clings to reeds and papyrus around the swamp and pools. After rain, choruses of males give a shrill, insistent piping from dusk onwards.

Its colour and pattern vary so much across Africa that dozens of local forms have been described.
