Common Egg-eater

Dasypeltis scabra

A harmless snake that eats nothing but birds' eggs, swallowing them whole and cracking them with spurs on its spine before spitting out the shell. Its rhombic markings mimic the venomous night adder.

Did you know?

It has almost no teeth and can swallow an egg several times the width of its head.
